Bantaeng – Efforts to prevent stunting continue through community-based innovations. One impactful initiative is Peduli Kampung ASI (PEDULI KASI) developed by Puskesmas Loka in Bantaeng Regency. This program addresses the low rate of exclusive breastfeeding, one of the key contributors to stunting. Through a community-based approach, the program provides education, mentoring, and social support for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. The initiative involves multiple stakeholders, including health workers, community health volunteers, women’s groups, and local government. This collaboration is implemented through the establishment of Breastfeeding Support Groups, which conduct home visits, counseling, and continuous assistance. One unique feature of this innovation is the use of the Saskia Flag, a simple marker placed at the homes of pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, making it easier for health workers to monitor and provide support. Additionally, the program promotes the use of katuk leaves, a local plant traditionally known to help increase breast milk production. This approach strengthens community self-reliance while improving maternal and child health. As a result, exclusive breastfeeding coverage has increased to 90.58% in 2024, while stunting rates have declined to 19.7%. A total of 17 Breastfeeding Support Groups have been established and are actively supporting the community. Despite challenges such as cultural beliefs and early formula feeding practices, the program continues to grow through adaptive, community-driven strategies. In the future, Peduli Kampung ASI is expected to expand and be replicated in other regions as a simple, effective, and sustainable public health innovation.
